COVID-19 Policy

*Please note that these plans are tentative and are subject to further development, and additional guidelines provided by our governing authorities.

Drop-off/Arrival procedure:

Parents will not be able to enter the facility at this time. A staff member will greet children and parents outside as they arrive at the check-in station. Parents will be asked the prescreen questions below and temperatures will be checked. Please remain in your car if there is currently someone being screened at the check-in station and allow the parent to leave the station before proceeding to the check-in station. Another staff member will then walk the child into the facility to their classroom. Children that are not walking will need to be transported in an infant carrier to help limit person-to-person contact.  When bringing items for your child to the daycare (diapers, bottles, clothes), please place the items in a ziplock bag with your child’s name on it.

At the end of the day, a staff member will walk the child out to the parent.  If your child’s class is outside, please go to the WEECare door and wait for a staff member to sign your child out and bring them to you.

Each staff member and parent dropping off children will be asked the following questions:

Anyone who answers YES to the following questions will be excluded.

1. Do you or any of the children you are dropping off have a fever*, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, other respiratory symptoms, or at least two of the following symptoms: chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell?

2. Have you or any of the children you are dropping off:

a. Had any of these symptoms since last time you were last here?

b. Been in contact with anyone with these symptoms since the last time you were here?

c. Potentially been exposed to COVID-19 or have reason to believe you/they have COVID-19?

*Fever will be determined by a thermometer reading 100.4 or higher or by subjective signs such as flushed cheeks, fatigue, extreme fussiness, chills, shivering, sweating, achiness, headache, not eating or drinking.

Temperatures will be checked and symptoms will be monitored throughout the day.

If possible, the same parent or designated person should drop off and pick up the child every day. Avoid designating those considered at high risk such as elderly grandparents who are over 65 years of age or individuals that are immunocompromised.

Current COVID-19 Precautions in Place:

·       Parents are asked prescreen questions each morning upon arrival.

·       Children and staff temperatures are taken before entering the center and every 4 hours after. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher is not allowed to                enter.

·       Hands are washed/sanitized upon entering and exiting classroom.

·       Toys are cleaned each time a child finishes playing with it.

·       Weekly deep cleaning by a commercial company.

In the event that a staff member, child attending the daycare, or someone in direct contact with someone at the daycare has been exposed to someone positive with COVID-19, the WEE Care director will notify the Walker County Health department immediately and will work with public health officials to determine the best course of action moving forward.

Based on recommendations made by the health department:

·       Parents will be notified by email or phone that there has been an exposure to COVID-19.

·       Some children and staff with potential exposure may be asked to temporarily not attend while the center works with the health department to determine who              had close contact with the person that tested positive. This might mean quarantining a full classroom or more than one classroom during this time.

·       If deemed necessary, parents and staff will be notified, and the center could potentially close for 14 days and anyone exposed will be asked to self-quarantine.

·       Classrooms and common areas will be deep cleaned before the center reopens.

Who cannot come to the childcare center or school after someone is diagnosed with COVID-19?

·       Children and staff who had close contact with the person who tested positive will need to stay home until 14 days after their last contact with the person who              tested positive. This may be different for different people depending on when they attended or last worked with the person who tested positive.

·       A close contact cannot come back early if they have a negative test during this exclusion period.

When can someone who had a positive test return?

·       People with a positive test can return when they have been fever-free for 48 hours with no other symptoms, and it has been at least 10 days since their                        symptoms started. This may be shorter than the time a close contact needs to stay home.

**These guidelines provide a roadmap in the event there is a positive case of COVID-19 at WEE Care. These guidelines are subject to change based on new or changing recommendations by the CDC.

Child accounts will be billed at a 25% reduced rate in the event the center is required to close. Payments will need to be made online at myprocare.com to hold your child’s spot upon reopening.
